Supporting communities

Work with a Community Liaison Officer

At Webster, we are committed to helping make the dream of home ownership possible. Webster’s network of Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) support communities within our expanded footprint.

What we do

Our network of CLOs work in partnership with our Office of Corporate Responsibility (OCR) to provide support and financial education to low-to-moderate income (LMI) and minority borrowers as they work within their respective regions to meet local credit needs. We also work directly with individuals and families to help navigate the buying process and identify a lending solution that is most affordable and sustainable. In addition, Webster Bank offers special loan programs for first-time homebuyers, including Down Payment Assistance.

First time homebuyers

  • Anyone who has not owned a home the past 3 years is considered a first time homebuyer
  • Special loan programs available between 80% Area Median up to 120% Area median income (check with your CLO for details)
  • Reduced interest rate options available
  • Low down payment and reduced closing cost options may be available
  • First time home buyer class may be required
  • Post-closing home ownership class also available to help sustain ownership

Down payment assistance

  • Many down payment (DAP) and closing cost assistance programs are available1
  • Programs are intended to assist first-time homebuyers who might otherwise not be able to afford a home by offering assistance with down payments and closing costs
  • The amount of assistance is based on the borrower’s financial need
  • Qualified clients can learn more by contacting one of our CLOs
